While you are at Ranthambhore, tasting its local cuisine should a priority on your list. One of the most iconic food – Dal Bati and Churma – is a hot favourite among both the natives and the tourists alike. This dish comprises of baked bati (a hard, whole wheat bread) that is served with dal, chutney, ghee, and jaggery. Another delicacy that is popular locally is ‘Gatte ki Sabzi’, which comprises of black gram flour dumplings dipped in a curry made of curd and spices. Ker Sangri is another iconic dish that is made with dried Ker berries, which are quite sour, and Sangri beans, which are rich in nutrients, Both these ingredients are native to Rajasthan.

There are plenty of vegetarian delicacies you can find in and around Ranthambhore. However, those who prefer non-vegetarian food can find solace in ‘Laal Maas’ and ‘Safed Maas’. ‘Laal Maas’, or Red Meat, is a mutton recipe that is prepared in a sauce of curd and hot spices, whereas ‘Safed Maas’. Or White Meat, is a mutton-based white curry made of fresh cream, curd, and dry fruits.

Every meal in India is concluded with a dessert, and Ranthambhore has plenty. Dilkushar is one of the popular desserts. It is made of khoya (dried whole milk), cream, ghee, and fried gram flour. Ghewar is another dish that you must try during your stay at Ranthambhore. It is a circular dish made of flour, milk, and sugar syrup.
